Paratherm Corporation, located in suburban Philadelphia, has reformulated it OR® heat transfer fluid, which significantly enhanced the product’s resistance to oxidation-induced sludge formation and coke deposits.
Paratherm’s first reformulation of the fluid since its introduction in 1997 includes a substantial change in its additive system. According to independent analyses, Paratherm OR® fluid is more than twice as resistant to oxidation-induced sludge formation as any other thermal oil. The OR® fluid was designed to provide extended service life in problem systems and to eliminated quick-connect freeze up during long production runs.
The OR® fluid, like all Paratherm fluids, is non-toxic with no foul odor. The company’s heat transfer fluids also are environmentally safe and may be combined safely with other spent lubricating oils and recycled locally (EPA citation 57FR21524).
The OR® fluid is highly thermally stable at film temperatures as high as 600 degrees Fahrenheit, and provides precision and uniform control of process temperatures. The fluid is particularly useful under job-shop conditions in plastics and die casting manufacturing applications where open reservoirs, blow-back procedures and quick connects are used.
